Chapter 5 Properties and Stereotypes

Purpose

Every element in a project is an organizational unit (a configuration, phase, system, file, or group), an item, or a component. Properties on each element store information about the element. This chapter lists the available properties.

Stereotypes

In the UML suite, you use the stereotype property to specify stereotypes.

Item properties

Item properties are stored with the item. When you edit item properties in the diagram editor, the UML suite stores the change locally. The item properties are saved in the repository when you save your diagram changes.

Component properties

Component properties are stored in the diagram file. Changes to component properties are saved when you save your diagram changes.

Other properties

Properties on elements other than items and components are stored in the repository. When you change such properties in the Browser, the UML suite updates the repository immediately.
