Communications Programming Concepts

Chapter 11. Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol

Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) includes a suite of protocols that specify communications standards between computers as well as detail conventions for routing and interconnecting networks. TCP/IP is used extensively on the Internet and consequently allows research institutions, colleges and universities, government, and industry to communicate with each other. This chapter provides programming references for methods, file formats, and RFCs used with TCP/IP.
